Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information wattdrop.net ("WattDrop," "I," "me") collects, how it is used, and who else may collect information when you use the site. WattDrop is a small independent site run by one person in Connecticut, USA. If you have a question, email wattdrop@gmail.com.
The short version
- There are no accounts, comments, newsletter, or contact forms on this site.
- The site itself does not set cookies.
- I use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.
- Some links go to Amazon and other retailers. If you click one, that retailer may use cookies to credit me with a commission. I never learn your name or what you personally bought.
- I do not sell your personal information, and I do not run targeted ads.
What I collect
Information you send me. If you email wattdrop@gmail.com, I receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. I use it only to read and reply to you. That mailbox is hosted by Google (Gmail).
Calculator inputs. The runtime calculators (fridge, CPAP, sump pump, insulin cooler, router, fan, window AC) do the math on the page. The choices you make, such as an appliance type, a power station, a wattage, or an inverter efficiency, are added to the page address so you can share or bookmark a result. Like any page you load, that address is sent to the site's host when the page is requested. These inputs are not linked to your name or any account, and I do not use them to identify anyone. Please do not type personal information into a calculator field.
Analytics. I use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages are useful. According to Vercel, it does not use cookies. For each page view it may record the time, the page address, the referring site, a coarse location (country, region, city), your device type, operating system, and browser. Visitors are counted using a hash of the incoming request that Vercel discards after 24 hours, so I cannot follow a visitor from day to day or across other websites. I only see totals. Vercel describes this in its Web Analytics privacy documentation.
On your first change to a calculator input I record only that calculator's name, and when you click an Amazon or Rokland link I record only the retailer, the page path, and the product id, with none of the numbers you type and nothing that identifies you, and Vercel may still attach the page, device, and coarse location details described above.
Server logs. The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel's servers receive technical information when your browser requests a page, including your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time. Vercel uses this to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. See Vercel's Privacy Notice.
I do not collect payment information, government IDs, or precise location, and I do not ask for health information.
Cookies and affiliate links
wattdrop.net does not set its own cookies.
Many product links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one and leave this site, the retailer (for example Amazon) or an affiliate network working for that retailer may place or read cookies, pixels, or similar technology in your browser. They use them to record that you arrived from WattDrop, so that if you buy something within their tracking window I may earn a commission. They may also collect your IP address, browser details, and what you click or buy on their site, under their own privacy policies.
From these programs I receive only reports such as the number of clicks, the number and type of items ordered, and the commission earned. I do not receive your name, address, contact details, or payment information, and I do not send them any personal information about you.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use a private browsing window. If you do, you can still use this site and still buy anything you like; the retailer just will not credit WattDrop.

WattDrop is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

When you click an Amazon link here, Amazon may place or recognize cookies in your browser and collect information directly from you, as described in Amazon's Privacy Notice and its Cookies Notice. Other affiliate programs
I may join affiliate programs run by other retailers or brands, often through affiliate networks such as Partnerize, Impact, Awin, or CJ. Links to those retailers work the same way as Amazon links described above: the retailer or network may use cookies or similar technology to track the click and any purchase, under its own privacy policy. I will update this policy as I add programs.

The site also links to manufacturer pages, manuals, and public data sources. Once you leave wattdrop.net, the other site's privacy policy applies.
Selling and sharing
I do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. I do not share it for targeted advertising, and there is no advertising network on this site. I would disclose information only if required by law.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
WattDrop does not track you over time or across other websites, so there is nothing for a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal to turn off on this site, and I treat every visitor the same whether or not your browser sends one. Third parties you reach through links on this site, such as Amazon or an affiliate network, may collect information about your online activity over time and across different websites. How they respond to these signals is covered by their own policies.
Children's privacy
WattDrop is written for adults and is not directed to children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has emailed me personal information, contact me and I will delete it.
How long I keep information
Analytics data is kept in aggregate in Vercel. Emails stay in the wattdrop@gmail.com mailbox until I no longer need them for the conversation. You can ask me to delete your emails at any time.
Your choices and rights
You can email wattdrop@gmail.com to ask what personal information I hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and I will respond within 45 days. Because I collect so little, in most cases the only information I hold about you is any email you have sent me. Depending on where you live, state privacy laws may give you additional rights, and I will honor valid requests.
Security
I rely on established providers (Vercel and Google) and limit who can access the accounts that run this site. No website or email service can be guaranteed 100% secure.
Changes to this policy
If I change how WattDrop handles information, I will update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change is significant, such as adding a newsletter or a new analytics tool, I will also note it at the top of this page for at least 30 days.
